FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What are presets for?
You can set up to three clients to control. This prevents you entering the phone and pin each time you start the program. This saves times.
To save a preset, enter all data (phone and PIN), tap on "Preset" on the upper right and choose one of three positions.

What is the ICCID?
Integrated Circuit Card ID - The so called serial number of the SIM card.

Will I get the new phone number on a SIM-card change?
Of course! When the SIM-card is changed, GuardMobile sends a SMS message to the owner-defined client 1 immediately! This message contains a SIM-change-notification message, the ICCID and of course the new phonenumber (sender of this message).
So you are, even after a SIM-card change, able to control and locate your device!

When locating my device, I receiver status SMS continuously. Will this stop anytime?
GPS locating devices may need a little time (depending on the position and the gps device). GuardMobile sends out status messages, to inform the locate-command sender that locating is in progess. GuardMobile sends out one SMS each 60 seconds. But a maximum of 5!
So, if GuardMobile cannot locate this device within 5 minutes, it will stop sending out SMS.

What is the Wiggle Alarm mode for?
You can (right at your device or remote via SMS) activate a so called "wiggle alarm" (only for devices with g-sensor). When it is active, GuardMobile supervises any motion of your device. If it is moving, a beep alarm is activated immediately, which can be deactivated by the owner only.
One example: You put your device on your desk with activated wiggle alarm mode. You leave your room. So when someone takes your device, GuardMobile recognizes motion and a wiggle alarm is activated. So then, you get informed by a loud beep, that someone took your device.

What is the command "cellid" for?
GuardMobile lets you locate your device using GSM cell ids (even if no GPS receiver is available!). The command "cellid" returns all information about the current GSM cell tower id, which this device is logged into.
You can for example use the free service http://www.opencellid.net to use this data to locate your device.

I have to send a SMS to control my device. Will the thief see this SMS, which contains the PIN?
No, the thief will not!
When GuardMobile is active, all SMS communications are intercepted by GuardMobile, so the SMS never "arrives". There are no SMS is left in SMS history (or SMS inbox).
